It’s been ten days since we began cohabiting Ruby. Ten glorious, loud, messy, happy, frustrating, incredible days of learning to share 80 square feet of space between the two of us. Some of the days have been so windy that we were forced to hide out for hours in our little home; stepping on each other’s toes and digging through our layers of patience. Some of the nights have been so cold that we’ve huddled together, snuggling closely under sleeping bags and blankets, forever grateful for the extra body heat and the person providing it. Some mornings were filled with the most magnificent sunrises we’d ever seen while some afternoons were spent staring confusedly into our engine. In ten days we’ve climbed mountains, soaked in hot springs, and driven more than a thousand miles. We’ve already seen some high highs and a few low lows, but overall this adventure is one unlike any we’ve had before, and we are grateful to be soaking in all the raw, beautiful reality of it.
