About 40 kilometers west of Iloilo City is the lovely town of Miagao, home to one of the #baroque Churches of the Philippines, which is inscribed as a #unescoworldheritagesite. Also known as the Santo Tomas de Villanueva Parish Church, the #miagaochurch was built and rebuilt following waves of destruction brought about by war, fire, and an earthquake. The impressive structure follows the Baroque Romanesque architectural style, and features an ornate #basrelief façade. The materials used for construction might seem odd in these modern times: adobe, eggs, coral, and limestone. But it is this combination that gives it its unique ochre color.
