Let’s talk about fitness & mentality.💪🧠 • • Fitness isn’t just about the visible gains. It’s about the mentality that changes along with those gains. Take my calf muscles in this picture...before starting my fitness journey, my mentality towards having muscular calves was entirely negative. I would make sure i wore the right clothes and shoes so that they didn’t pop too much because I was embarrassed and self-conscious. Embarrassed that they were too bulky, and that they would seem bulkier if I wore heels or skinny jeans (which was ridiculous). But once I started trying to become stronger and learned to love my body no matter the physique that all changed. Now I’m proud of my calf muscles because they make me feel stronger, healthier, faster, and invincible on the soccer field. As a female, I’ve had to listen to comments about being too muscular or manly just because my muscles pop. I’ll be honest, before those comments would bother me, but now I take it as a compliment. Fitness isn’t just about the change in physique but also about the change in mindset and how we grow one of the most important muscles in our body: the brain. 🧠 • So how is fitness changing not just your body but your mentality? Welcome to Missouri where you walk outside for 2 seconds and this is what happens 😂 I am so ready for spring and warm weather, it just has a positive effect on my mood ☀️ It is so tough to wake up early and go workout when it’s cold outside but I have been doing that pretty consistently except for the past two weeks, but once warm weather comes it is enjoyable to wake up, drink some coffee outside on the patio and not wonder “why does my face hurt and my eyes are watering” 😂 Have an awesome weekend and accomplish some goals, be productive so we can crush next week too!
Muscle Ups. This exercise has been something I’ve never been able to do. You’ve just witnessed the first of many to come. I enjoy trying new things when I train because it gives your body something completely outside of its comfort zone to adapt to. Force yourself to be uncomfortable.
