Happy #monday everybody! . Life is getting crazy by the minute and my head is spinning. My wife and I are beginning our immigration process in Canada and we are focused on the prize. . I am in my fourth and last semester at @humbercollege and soon I will be graduating from the Fashion Arts and Business program, ready to let this creativity lose in this town. . Nervous? Yes. . On my toes. Yes.
Zhu Jinshi, ‘All That Remains’, 2016, Pearl Lam Galleries Zhu Jinshi produces abstract paintings whose surfaces are built up with thick, near-sculptural layers of oil paint. Resembling colourful landscapes, Zhu’s images range in palette and scale, but the artist is known to always apply his oil paint with spatulas and shovels. Producing dense lashings of colour, the artist’s method recalls the style and techniques espoused by the German Expressionists, who Zhu was profoundly influenced by during his years living in Berlin. Zhu belonged to a group of Chinese avant-garde artists named the Stars, which formed in 1979 to challenge aesthetic conventions and exhibit their work publicly. The group, which included the famous dissident artist Ai Weiwei, was granted an exhibition in 1980 at Beijing’s National Gallery, a breakthrough in Chinese cultural expression that helped to establish the creative force of the individual. “Although I operate within the realm of form,” Zhu has said, “my idea is to go beyond the limitations set by form and break free.” He has also produced photographic, video, installation, and performance works. via @artsy ___ #zhujinshi#aiweiwei#expressionism#thearmoryshow2018#instatips#thehouseoftheartists#thota#fb#instagramagency#forartists#growfollowers
#tbt 2006-2009 Best place for a creative mind. Neumann Leathers Buildings in #hoboken#newjersey#neumannleathers This is the place where my creativity took off, where I let all my issues on a canvas after my heart was broken and my father denied me the right to live in the US and had to let it go. I used every minute in that place to create art and visualize a life of creative endeavors. . I miss this place, specially the people who, like me, enjoyed this space and created art to make the world better. . If you had the chance to be there, I miss you too. Good times. .
I see faces, moods, and personal decisions when I stare at a blank surface. . My process is very personal and spontaneous, but my mind thinks of what to create all throughout the day. That’s why I keep my @moleskine_world handy. . Life is nuts right now. I have to find a job offer in Toronto before the end of May so I can extend my work permit. My experience in product and creative brand development is an asset, but for a newcomer is hard to get my foot on the door. A new challenge ahead, but I will overcome. . Art keeps it all together
