To train for carrying heavy objects around the yard why not carry heavy weights? The best way to do so is to add the Farmer's carry to your training program.  To perform the Farmer's carry grab some heavy dumbbells/kettlebells or a hex bar and walk. When walking make sure you are contracting your abs, your shoulder blades are retracted towards your spine, and your glutes are contracted. Then walk slow and long! German Arm Swings are excellent for improving and maintaining shoulder mobility.  If you sit at a desk for several hours a day or simply don’t use your arms overhead on a regular basis, consider standing up and giving these swings a try once every hour or so. . When chopping wood or using a sledgehammer to tidy up the yard you need to learn how to move properly to decrease the chance of overuse injury to the shoulders or "throw out your back". A good way to help train for these power activities is to perform a med ball slam. The med ball slam requires hip extension, knee extension, arm extension, and ankle plantar flexion followed by a forceful shift in weight back and down. This how the use of an axe or sledgehammer should be. It is also a good cardio workout.  Like and comment below. Why not immerse the unborn child in all those good feelings exercise brings!? One way to incorporate physical fitness and create a deep bond with your unborn baby is by using Fit For Birth’s Labor Training™. Taught in our Corrective Exercise Specialist course, Labor Training™ was originally developed to train the pregnant mom and baby for the rigors of childbirth - mentally, emotionally, and physically.  It is an exercise sequence that mimics the timing, intensity, energy and rest periods of labor contractions but can also be used to help connect mom and baby more deeply.  Exercise produces endorphins that trigger a positive feeling in the body.
