Cinema Watch: Treating my mum to an early birthday trip to the cinema: • - Unsane utilises its limited camera equipment to create a stripped back psychological thriller. Supposedly entirely filmed on the ever popular iPhone mobile device, it proves that directors and aspiring filmmakers do not require expensive IMAX cameras to tell a compelling story. Whilst this gimmick is a trend that I don't necessarily agree with, surprisingly I succumbed to the lower camera quality and became invested in this twisted thriller. A young woman, who in the past held a restraining order against a stalker, seeks advice from a doctor. Classed as a threat to herself and others, she accidentally volunteers herself into a psychiatric ward which makes her question her own sanity. Much like 'Side Effects' (a personal favourite of mine), Soderbergh relishes in the clinical environment that he is portraying. The psychotic behaviour of certain patients allows him to manipulate our minds with a twisty narrative to keep our sane eyes glued to the screen. The plot itself is nothing new and may feel all too familiar, but it's a seamless transition from a general psychological analysis of one character to then become a fully developed stalker thriller. The first two acts are anchored by an intelligent screenplay, allowing the main character to become developed and relatable. Then the third act takes the story, overdoses on thrills and quickly descends into a clichéd climax. Some of the character choices are absurd, but it never takes itself too seriously. Soderbergh knows how to have fun with the genre whilst showcasing his directing talent, I mean those one take scenes in the confinement cell were magnificent. Foy gave a damn solid performance as she shouts, rages and sasses...all in a flawless American accent...simultaneously. Her character was a perfect balance of sarcastic humour and emotional vulnerability. The problem with using a mobile device is that it lacks a certain cinematic

Brownwell Entertainment's shabby shoestring horror #friendsdontletfriends doesn't match the ambition of its production. Read my full review at http://wyliewrites.com/friends-dont-let-friends Then check it out on VOD! #filmreview
Just watched Deadpool only for the second time. I figured, since the sequel is coming out soon, it's time for a rewatch. Still liked it as much as the first time in theater. #nowwatching #deadpool #ryanreynolds #timmiller #marvel #marverstudios #bluray #bluraycollection #bluraycollector #filmbuff #moviefan #moviecollector #moviecollection #4kuhd #4k #stanlee
Watching PACIFIC RIM again before the second one, haven't seen this since the cinema so looking forward to seeing it again.
You know who I pray to? Joe Pesci. Two reasons: First of all, I think he's a good actor, okay? To me, that counts. Second, he looks like a guy who can get things done. Joe Pesci doesn't fuck around. In fact, Joe Pesci came through on a couple of things that God was having trouble with. George Carlin

Akira Kurosawa, one of the great filmmakers, was born on this day 108 years ago. My favorite films of his are Seven Samurai, Ikiru and Ran, pictured here. Ran, Kurosawa’s version of King Lear, I love especially for its vibrant use of color. If you haven’t seen a Kurosawa movie yet, or in a while, do yourself a favor and give one or all of them a watch. You won’t regret it. Bonus fact: Kurosawa’s The Hidden Fortress was a major influence on the first Star Wars film, both in story and aesthetic. Extra bonus fact: We all know that Seven Samurai was remade as The Magnificent Seven, but did you know that Kurosawa’s Yojimbo was remade as Sergio Leone’s A Fistful of Dollars? So basically Kurosawa is responsible for the invention of the spaghetti western too. #akirakurosawa
Phenomena is probably my favourite #darioargento movie. It has a young Jennifer Connelly in one of her first roles, an ape, awesome soundtrack with Goblin, Iron Maiden and Motörhead and cool visuals! #nowwatching #phenomena (1985) #jenniferconnelly #donaldpleasence #creepers #bluray #blurayaddict #blurayjunkie #blurayfanatic #blurayfreak #bluraylover #moviefan #moviebuff #moviecollector #moviecollection #filmbuff #cinephile #cinema #bluraycollector #bluraycollection #dvd #dvdcollector #latestpurchase #latestpickup #senasteköpet

My review for WWE Wrestlemania 30 (2014) . . . Twenty-nine years in the making, the mainstream pro wrestling spectacular, "Wrestlemania", celebrates it's thirtieth anniversary in the city of fiesta, New Orleans, Louisiana! Known famously for it's victory of a certain underdog and the ending of an iconic streak. Was this show truly a grand spectacular to remember? Let's find out! . . . Hulk Hogan, Steve Austin, and The Rock introduce Wrestlemania: I usually never review promos or skits, but this one I can't deny! The three biggest stars of "Wrestlemania" of their respective era, all in the same ring at the same moment! It sent chills down my arms! Though it was hilarious to see Hogan botched his promo and called the "Superdome", the "Silverdome", in front of 75,167 fans at attendance, you could tell that all three wrestlers were having an fantastic time in the ring playing off each other and sharing a cold one at the end. A great introduction. . . . Daniel Bryan vs Triple H: There was so much drama and rich storytelling going into this bout! It definitely helped hyping up the audience with the fantastically made video package playing beforehand highlight this extensively long feud. One thing I absolutely love about Triple H that I always give him credit for is that no matter who his opponent is, he can blend well into their style of wrestling and work some incredibly ring psychology with said opponent. That being said, Triple H and Bryan worked a heated technical match. Triple H was able to work on Bryan at a slow pace and focused on Bryan's injured arm throughout. Bryan's was tremendous at selling here and made Triple H seem strong and an intimidating threat. Triple H was nailing esoteric Japanese style suplexes and some interesting reversals from Bryan's submissions. Triple H showed here that no matter the age, you can always teach a old dog new tricks. A strong opener and a long match too! 10/10 * Continues in the comments *
