Please stop paying someone to abuse, mutilate, torture and murder animals for YOU. Regrann from @milkhurts - Repost @awellfedworld: Conversations about overpopulation consistently ignore the fact that we currently breed more than 70 billion land animals in to existence each year for slaughter: which requires orders of magnitude more land, water, crops, and energy than would be required to grow plant foods to feed 7 billion humans directly. One of the world's largest and most visible environmental organizations, Greenpeace International, is finally acknowledging this. They have just launched a new report and campaign that highlights the devastating and disproportionate contribution of meat & dairy to climate change, wildlife habitat loss, natural resource misuse, biodiversity loss, deforestation, ocean dead zones, and waste and degradation of global freshwater supplies. In a statement about the new campaign, the Executive Director of Greenpeace International said: “Something is rotten in our food system. Governments continue to support massive meat and dairy operations, leading to more and more meat consumption while putting our health, our children’s health, and the health of our planet at risk. Instead, they should be supporting the increasing numbers of farmers shifting towards ecological production of healthy foods, and helping people access healthy plant-based foods." In response to public queries on food policy at the organization in light of their new campaign calling for a shift away from meat and dairy, a Greenpeace representative has announced: "As we ask governments and people worldwide to shift towards a more plant-based diet and to reduce meat and dairy consumption, we are making the same shift
many people today work jobs they don’t like to buy things they don’t need, so that they can impress people they don’t like. but at the end of life these people will deeply regret spending their lives trying to impress other people. be humble and seek to impress yourself only. let other people worry about chasing status. this perspective is extremely liberating. -from a class reading on living simply been spending this semester reshaping my ideas of wealth, happiness, and status. these words are incredibly grounding. be an innovator and visionary in this world and settle for nothing less. you’ve always had everything you need right inside of you.
