A little #tbt to this gem of an upper back movement. Playing around with some more “Chaos” work. “Chaos Rows” offer a unique stimulus for the upper body. When you initiate the pull the bands stretch and the weights do not initially move, then at the top as the weights slow down and reverse they bounce/shake. This erratic and unpredictable movement of the weight not only challenges the upper back and arms, but since these are performed in the hinge position it also offers a spinal stability component too. These tend to work well to help improve scapular stability and overall shoulder health. I want to give a shout out to this Gentle Giant right here! Last weekend I started to feel off. I can't explain it really, but things were just off with my body and I couldn't figure it out. I knew my grip was disappearing in my right hand and holding anything was painful. Then, at the beginning of this week, I really started to notice restricted movement just below my neck. Then a giant hot, hard ball started to grow where I was losing my flexibility. Then one eye started to close. Then the migraine came. Then the right side of my face about slid off and my kids asked me if I was having a stroke. I had a feeling the spine was the culprit. To the #chiropractor we go! . . I got my back loosened up then I was very carefully adjusted. Things felt more in place and my grip returned and pain went away in my hand immediately. I was still wicked sore and had that giant ball of mess on my upper spine. We came to the conclusion that somehow I had gotten a bone turned around and I had a lot of inflammation around it. Things slowly started to subside since yesterday but I was still soooo sore and wound up from the weeks events. Visions of Epsom salt appeared in my head. Ah hah! 🛁 . . A very, very hot 🔥 soak in a half cup of Gentle Baby infused Epsom salt, and a half cup of Ancient Minerals Magnesium flakes. This mama can finally do Cobra pose again and I may actually be calm enough to really get into my yoga practice right now. . . So... soak your body periodically, you will be amazed at how you feel. Also, not only may Gentle Baby tame your little, it can also tame a wild beast like me 🙋😌 #theoilypeeps
✳️Thoracic Spine Series - [Anatomy and Function] - Ep. 165 . If we use the analogy of our spine as a ship ⛵️, your mid-back would be the mast. It acts an attachment point for the entire torso, most obvious as the anchor for your 12 sets of ribs. And also as an attachment for the muscles that help you breath 💨. . It differs from other areas of the spine, it has: 🔸Increased ability to rotate (especially in the upper T-Spine) 🔸Smaller Intervertebral Discs 🔸Joints for the Ribs to Attach An 'average' Thoracic Spine should have a slight 'kyphosis', meaning a front to back curve (see picture). A slight kyphosis is NORMAL, it allows for Force Absorption of the spine against gravity. . However with aging or hunched over posture 🙇🏻from the amount of desk work we do in modern times, This kyphosis can get accentuated. This leads to: 🔹Stretching of muscles around the mid-back 🔹Restriction of full inspiration of breath 🔹Inability to properly extend or rotate with certain movements 🏌🏋️♀️ . ☝️It's important to maintain proper movement of the Thoracic spine, and I'll show you some of my go-to exercises over the next few posts....now to get off my chair and get moving 😅 . There a few services that I don't take for granted! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I had been going to the same chriroporactor for 10 years before last Sept. Since he had been gone I had neglected my chiropractic care for fear of not finding someone I could fully trust. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #connection#balance#healing ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I'm SO happy that I have found a new home with @peaceoflifechiropractic 💞 What a blessing they are!
Are you reading this while looking down at a screen? If so, you may be suffering from “text neck,” otherwise known as Forward Head Posture. When the head is consistently too far forward for too long, we put unnecessary stress on the spinal cord - which connects virtually all parts of the body to the brain. Not surprisingly, this stress can cause all sorts of issues everywhere in the body! For three free tips on how to immediately begin to improve your posture and reduce your chances of sporting the dreaded “text neck,” click on the link in our bio.
A cluster headache strikes quickly, usually without warning. The pain of a cluster headache is often described as sharp, penetrating or burning. People with cluster headaches appear restless. They may pace or sit through the attack. In contrast to people with migraines, people with cluster headaches usually avoid lying down during the attack because this position seems to increase the pain.
