Most of the plastic items in our daily lives are used once and then chucked. These bad boys ☝🏻are culprits the Earth can never digest and it's obvious that they are parallel to climate change as a global emergency. So how can we help alleviate this problem? Start by weaning yourself off disposable plastics and replace them with reusable versions. I admit it's quite a struggle especially when you're living in the world's third biggest contributor of plastic pollution .But i still believe we are capable of change .And even as simple as using reusable versions of the bad boys in the picture can make a huge impact. Just Care, act and advocate . ♻️believe me, it matters .🌎 🙋🏻 -- #4oceanambassador#devoceanambassador @devotedtotheocean @4ocean @4oceanvolunteers --- Awesome artwork by @ecowithem_

So there I was, just started #mosquitopower and trying to get my message/journey across. And then it happened: OTHER ACCOUNTS😂😂. Me looking at peoples flawless accounts with gorgeous monotone pictures. And there my little friend 'doubt' set in. 'Am I doing the right thing' 'should I just give up while I can?' So I'm putting myself on a 'comparison diet'! And am just going to find inspiration and keep on putting out what I discover. Sometimes you just need to trust yourself and the process and not wordy so much about the 'perfect ones'🙋🏼❤️🌍
It’s the small things♻️It’s the ripple effect🌏Small tips: 1 🌍 Be mindful of how much water you use. Turning the tap off in between brushing your teeth, reusing water & turning the tap off when it’s not necessary. 2 🌏 Car share. Having 1 car between you and your partner or you and a friend can make a huge difference. You’ll walk more, only be using it when necessary & be more time efficient with errands. 3 🌎 Walk. When you can - generally. A shop round the corner. A shop near to work, walk and shop on lunch. All small, all help. 4 🌍 Use energy saving light bulbs 💡 it uses less energy and helps the environment & it can save you money on energy bills. 5 🌏 Recycle - most of us are making more conscious decisions and recycling and if not, it’s easy to start now. Also making those decisions at the time of purchase. If you are choosing between 2 products, choose the one with the least packaging, the least un-recyclable packaging, the 1 that can be reusable within your house. I love reusing jars for example. 6 🌎 Take a bus or train if you can on longer journeys. Sometimes this isn’t feasible, you may have equipment or bags and bags but if you can, do. Multiple people in one mode of transport is a great way to reduce emissions 🚎 7 🌍 Turning off lights when you’re not in the room 💡 8 🌎 Reduce your meat intake. Animal Agriculture is responsible for 20-33% of all fresh water consumption in the world. There are many statistics on how it’s impacts our planet-if you’re interested-watch @cowspiracy and #beforetheflood 🌍 The most important thing is, to do our best. To do some of these things, or all. Whichever works for you, whichever you choose. There are many more ways we can help but these are just a handful of small choices that can impact. People often say, what difference will 1 person make. If you are 1 individual thinking that and you choose not to act. What if hundreds, thousands or millions of individuals
VERY SAD.... #repost @leonardodicaprio Photo by @amivitale With a heavy heart, I share this news and hope that Sudan's legacy will awaken us to protect this magnificent and fragile planet. Yesterday, Joseph Wachira, 26 comforted Sudan, the last living male Northern White Rhino left on this planet moments before he passed away. Sudan lived a long, healthy life at the conservancy after he was brought to Kenya from @safari_park_dvur_kr He died surrounded by people who loved him at @olpejeta after suffering from age-related complications that led to degenerative changes in muscles and bones combined with extensive skin wounds. Sudan has been an inspirational figure for many across the world. Thousands have trooped to Ol Pejeta to see him and he has helped raise awareness for rhino conservation. The two female northern white rhinos left on the planet are his direct descendants. Research into new Assisted Reproductive Techniques for large mammals is underway due to him. The impact that this special animal has had on conservation is simply incredible. And there is still hope in the future that the subspecies might be restored through IVF. In 2009, I had the privilege of following this gentle hulking creature on his journey from the snowy Dour Krylov zoo in the Czech Republic to the warm plains of Kenya, when he was transported with three of his fellow Northern White Rhinos in a last ditch effort to save the subspecies. It was believed that the air, water, and food, not to mention room to roam, might stimulate them to breed—and the offspring would then be used to repopulate Africa. At the time, there were 8 Northern white rhinos alive, all in zoos. Today, we are witnessing the extinction of a species that had survived for millions of years but could not survive mankind. #dontletthemdisappear#rhinos#saverhinos#stoppoaching#kenya#northernkenya#africa#travesiablu#savetheoceans#savetheforests#savetheforest#savetheamazon#savetheamazonforest
