I’m not sure what to say about the age of imitation (0-7 years) except to just let go and accept it. They don’t like being left out, they want to do everything everyone else is doing, and there’s nothing to do but encourage it if it’s working. Even if it looks like my Kindergartener is doing 4th grade work, she isn’t absorbing it with the same consciousness. When we come back to this later she may perhaps remember she drew a human being once but it will have much deeper meaning to her once she has passed the 9 year change and feels more separated from the world. The child is the curriculum but you don’t always have to separate your children into different rooms or main lessons. We just don’t force anything they aren’t ready for, and we meet them where they are. For this child, she wakes every morning and will have drawn 10 pictures by noon. She is six and drawn to drawing. Who am I to stop it? Carry on 😄
