Blue Planet’s Executive Director, Jeff Mikulina, has a candid conversation at the Maui Energy Conference about whether it’s cost effective to go 100% renewable in Hawaii. The question he poses is ”can we afford NOT to do this?” #mauinrg18#weare100#forourfuture
HAPPY PI DAY! No, not that kind of pie, the kind that represents one of the oldest and most recognizable mathematical constant in the world. Pi is the ratio of any circle’s circumference to its diameter. Its value is approx equal to 3.14159265. It’s an irrational number, which means it cannot be expressed as a ratio of whole numbers, and its decimal representation never never ends or repeats. There are a lot of mathematical calculations and equations in the solar industry. But let us worry about that. Instead, go celebrate Pi day with your favorite slice of cherry, pumpkin, pecan, or even pepperoni, and call us to schedule your no cost residential solar evaluation 480-257-3283 or visit our website www.sunnyenergy.solar/save-with-solar/ #piday#solar#solarenergy#energy#cleanenergynow#solarpanel#solarpanels#stem#steam#100isnow#solaraz#realtor#realestate

BREAKING NEWS FROM TEMPE, AZ, home of @arizonastateuniversity and @sunnyenergynow’s headquarters: TEMPE RAMPS UP SUSTAINABILITY GOALS, AIMS TO USE 100% RENEWABLE ENERGY BY 2035. The Tempe City Council is aiming to be using 100% renewable energy for it’s city operations by 2035, and carbon neutral by 2050. Jerod MacDonald-Evoy | The Republic | azcentral.com Tempe aims to be using 100 percent renewable energy for city operations by 2035 and be carbon neutral by 2050. A divided Tempe City Council adopted the resolution Thursday, although three members voted against it, questioning its financial impact on the city. Vice Mayor Robin Arredondo-Savage and council members Kolby Granville and Joel Navarro voted against it. Councilwoman Lauren Kuby, who spearheaded the resolution, said council members were provided estimates on the financial impact. The city budget allocates $175,000 annually for renewable energy and the resolution did not allocate any further spending. Mayor Mark Mitchell said future steps to reach the goal would be part of the annual budget-making process. City has a ways to go Currently, 6.5 percent of the city's energy use is from sustainable sources via solar panels on city buildings. The city expects to hit 10 percent this spring. The latest resolution ups the goals the council approved in 2014, which aimed to use 20 percent renewable energy by 2025. The loftier goals were recommended by a working group, which included the mayor, Kuby, Councilman Rancy Keating, and worked in partnership with utility providers. "We look forward to working hand-in-hand to increase the city’s energy efficiency, fleet electrification and investment in clean technologies in an affordable way," Kent Walter, an APS manager of customer technology product development, said in a news release from the city. #cleanenergy#100isnow#poweredbysunnyenergy#tempe#az#arizona#arizonastateuniversity#asu#sustainable#sustainability#green#cleanair#cleanwater
