Another location to cross off my bucket list: Cliff Palace in Mesa Verde National Park. I've wanted to see this piece of architecture since doing lesson plans on it for my Masters degree. Unfortunately the tours do not start until May, but it was still cool to see personally. This is the home of the earliest Americans, the Pueblo Indians. Who dwelled there around 1200 A.D. They built their houses along the cliff sides to protect themselves from harsh winter winds. Hard to believe they carved their houses out of the Limestone in the rock with nothing but primitive hand-tools. Fascinating people!
