Don't Quit Praying “Perseverance in prayer is not overcoming God’s reluctance but rather laying hold of God’s willingness. Our sovereign God has purposed to sometimes require persevering prayer as the means to accomplish His will.” – William Thrasher Have you ever felt like you have been praying and the answers are not forthcoming? It seems like the heavens are shut up, and the Lord has fallen asleep on you, and no matter how hard you try to stay in faith, the fear of the answer not coming takes ahold of your heart and mind. Well, you are not alone, there are times in our lives when we all feel like we are in the desert, but there are answers to press in for even if it takes a while. The prophet Daniel in the bible is a great example on persevering prayer, and he had a disciplined prayer life; three times a day Daniel would bow and pray whether things were good or bad in his life. (Daniel 6:10) Daniel didn’t have life easy, he was taken away into captivity, forced to live under a new name and religious ways, and he was thrown into a lion’s den because he would not conform to the culture of his day, yet, he never moved away from the discipline of prayer. Because of his obedience to God, he was entrusted with visions of the future, though the visions were dreadful he purposed to seek God for understanding through prayer and fasting. Daniel persevered for three weeks in constant searching for understanding. Sometimes we buy into a lie that if we continue to pray for an answer for a long period we are repetitious and we stop short. I’ve come to understand there are just some things we must keep on praying for, e.g., unsaved loved ones, healing in bodies and marriages, laws and legislation that represents the kingdom of God, and this is just a few. Daniel had an encounter with an angel at the end of his fast, and the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble
The Missing Ingredient In Your Battle Against Sin ______________________________________ You can do everything right and still not defeat a sin. You can read the Bible every day. You can pray. You can have a group of friends around you who’ll speak the truth in love to you on a regular basis. ______________________________________ And you can still be trapped in habitual sin. ______________________________________ At the end of the day, you can’t depend upon yourself and what you can do to defeat sin. You need the Holy Spirit’s power. The Holy Spirit enables believers to do what they can’t do and fulfill God’s desire for our lives. ______________________________________ You can have all the right equipment to defeat habitual sin in your life, but it won’t matter without the Holy Spirit. Imagine you were walking on the beach and saw a dead seagull that had died less than a minute earlier. If you pick it up, it won’t be much different than its live counterparts. It’ll still be warm. It’ll have the same muscles, bones, feathers, and wings. But if you toss it up in the sky, it’ll drop right back down to the ground. ______________________________________ Why? The seagull has no life left. The life isn’t in the feathers, wings, or bones. It’s in the life God puts in it. Without a spirit, the bird won’t fly, even if it has all the right equipment. ______________________________________ You can have all the right equipment to live a successful, victorious life, but without the Spirit’s empowering, you can’t live that kind of life. __________________ It’s like throwing a dead bird into the air. ______________________________________ You can’t live the victorious life of Christ on your own. It’s impossible. Your best intentions and your too-easily-broken promises won’t enable you to live the Christian life. The Holy Spirit has to live through you. #workflow#lunchtime#word
Prayer Is Our Winning Weapon In The InvisibleWar "Church fails to pray, God's cause decays and evil of every kind prevails. In other words, God works through the prayers of His people, and when they fail Him at this point, decline and deadness ensue." - E M Bounds _________________________________________ We all know there are wars and rumors of wars raging wild across the earth because the news and social media give it more than enough coverage, yet when the topic of a spiritual battle comes up we have a very hard time believing this is real. But Jesus reminds us to be mindful of the war that is raging. He said, "Keep actively watching and praying that you may not come into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the body is weak." – (Matthew 26:41 AMP). From this statement we can recognize that the war is mostly internal for the believer. Jesus made this statement the night he was about to be taken away to be crucified; he had just completed the Passover meal with his disciples, and he took a few of the disciples to the garden for support in prayer because He knew what was about to befall him. After a while of praying Jesus came back and saw the disciples sleeping and he said, "Couldn't you men keep watch with me for one hour?" – (Matthew 26:40). ____ Jesus was emphasizing the importance of prayer in this on-going battle is to keep the faith. The faith to believe He is who He says He is and He will do what He says He will do, is the biggest struggle we all face. When money is running low, when our children are going off the righteous path after we have done everything to teach them God's ways, when sickness and pain are wreaking havoc in our bodies and worries seem to be the bed we lie in every night, when our relationships are plagued with disloyalty and cheating, when the business or ministry have taken the best years of our lives and it still seems to be going under, when there is alcohol and abuse in our homes trust me it takes on a real fight to still
NEW COVENANT GREATER THAN THE OLD If our Hearts are not changed , following Gods rules will be unpleasant and difficult. We will rebel against being told how to live . The holy spirit, However, gives us new desires , helping us want to obey God. With new hearts we find that serving God is our Greatest joy. _________________________________________ Under Gods new covenant, God's law inside us. It is no longer an external set of rules and principles. The Holy Spirit reminds us of Christs words, activates Our consciences, influences our motives and desires, and makes us want to obey.
